MASS SHOOTING NASHVILLE – CHRISTIAN COVENANT SCHOOL

On Monday March 27th 2023, a suspected former student blasted her way through 2 sets of secured glass double doors private Christian elementary school in Nashville who then killed three 9 year old students and three adults in their 60’s. Police said that the victim left behind maps and notes of the school and scouted a second possible attack location. They also identified the shooter, whose name is Audrey Hale. Hale is a 28-year-old former student now transgender from her to him. Hale had three firearms, 2 AR style rifles and a handgun. She/Her or He-Him/Her was shot and killed 14 minutes into her attack by police who immediately engaged the active shooter upon their arrival. This is the deadliest school shooting in nearly a year. Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake, who spoke on the incident.
Authorities said that the attack was over in about 14 minutes. According to police spokesperson Don Aaron, the first call came in at 10:13 a.m. about the shooting, and the shooter was dead by 10:27 a.m. He said there was no school resource officer assigned by the city to guard the school as it was a private school operated by a church.
Targeting another location, investigators also found another place the shooter may have looked. But he gave up on the idea after doing a “threat assessment” because the site is too secure. Initially, police referred to Hale as the “female shooter,” but in a press conference that evening, they revealed that Hale was transgender. When asked for clarification, Hale used “male pronouns” on a social media profile, according to a spokesperson.
After the attack, authorities found Hale had maps drawn of the school in detail, including surveillance and entry points. The police have some documents that they are going over that pertain to this incident.The police said that Hale fired multiple times on the first and second floors of the school. Hearing the gunfire, a five-member team of police officers went to the second floor and fatally shot the suspect.
The police are investigating for a motive. From that investigation, they have come to the conclusion that they are continuing to probe the shooter’s home and have talked with the suspect’s father. Last year, Hale graduated from Nossi College of Art & Design in Nashville, where the president of the school said that Hale worked as a freelance graphic designer and a part-time grocery shopper. Which was also witnessed by Hale’s LinkedIn profile.
According to Metro Nischeville Police Chief Hale, he obtained at least two of the weapons legally. Drake also said that three weapons were found: an AR-style rifle, an AR-style pistol, and a handgun. President Joe Biden described this incident as “sick” and “heartbreaking” in a news conference, and urging Congress to take further action on gun safety legislation. Following his concern about gun safety legislation, Biden continued, “We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart, ripping the soul of this nation, ripping at the very soul of the nation.” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also concern about gun safety and she called on lawmakers to pass laws on related. Biden also shows concern about school and said “we have to do more to protect our schools, so they aren’t turned into prisons.”
